Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is swinging back into action—but this time, he’s flying solo in a grittier, more grounded story. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will showcase the web-slinger as a true street-level hero, far removed from the Avengers’ cosmic battles and multiversal chaos.
At a Fantastic Four roundtable attended by ScreenRant’s Ash Crossan, Feige opened up about Holland’s return in the upcoming Spider-Man film, which will mark the first time a live-action Spider-Man headlines a fourth solo movie.
“I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home,” Feige said. “For as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland stories him being a proper Spider-Man — by himself, dedicated to saving the city and dealing with street-level crime.”
Feige hinted at a major showdown ahead, as Peter crosses paths with another gritty vigilante: Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. “Of course, I know The Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic with that great cover,” Feige teased. “I won’t say too much… but Destin Daniel Cretton is doing an amazing job. He’s got eight or nine comic covers on his wall in the art department that he’s bringing to life.”
With Brand New Day set to begin filming soon, fans can expect a darker tone, inspired by classic comic runs, and a Spider-Man who’s more isolated, raw, and resourceful than ever before.
While No Way Home ended on a tragic note—erasing Peter Parker from the lives of everyone he loved — Brand New Day promises to be a bold new chapter. One that finally delivers the lone, mature, street-level Spider-Man comic fans have longed to see on screen.
