Former Big Brother Naija housemate Roseline Afije—popularly known as Liquorose—is proving she’s more than just a phenomenal dancer. In a recent interview with Saturday Beats, the reality star spoke about breaking free from typecasting with her standout performance as ‘Abebi’ in the movie Lisabi.
Liquorose revealed that although many viewed her solely as a dancer, she began her entertainment career as an actress. “It feels amazing because I think I have been a victim of stereotype,” she said. “People said I was just a dancer and should stick to dancing. Seeing people appreciate me as an actress is amazing.”
Setting the record straight, Liquorose emphasised that she didn’t transition from dancing to acting—she’s always been both. “I am not switching to acting. I came into the industry as an actress. I acted in the popular TV series The Johnsons in 2012. Acting and dancing go hand in hand; they are both entertainment,” she explained.
Speaking on the impact of her role in Lisabi, Liquorose credited the film for opening new doors and boosting her credibility as an actress. “Featuring in Lisabi opened a lot of doors for me, acting-wise. It was a big one for me. I appreciate Lateef Adedimeji and Mo Bimpe for giving me the opportunity. People took me more seriously because I was featured in a movie of that caliber. Since then, I have taken on more acting jobs.”
With her rising visibility in Nollywood, Liquorose continues to expand her creative reach, proving that she’s not just a dancer but a well-rounded entertainer with serious acting chops.
