The 2024 Marrakech International Film Festival is set to welcome a remarkable lineup of jurors, with visionary Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino presiding over the jury. Guadagnino steps in to replace Danish director Thomas Vinterberg, who withdrew for personal reasons, as announced by the festival. Known for his evocative storytelling and deep cinematic flair, Guadagnino expressed excitement for his role, reflecting on his own long-standing connection to Marrakech, where his "Arab DNA" and passion for cinema converge.

Among the esteemed jurors are acclaimed Iranian director Ali Abbasi, celebrated Indian filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, Oscar-winning American actress Patricia Arquette, Belgian star Virginie Efira, and Moroccan actress Nadia Kounda. Adding further star power to the panel are British-American actor Andrew Garfield and Australian breakout Jacob Elordi, both marking a significant presence as they lend their insights to the festival’s 21st edition. Argentine filmmaker Santiago Mitre completes the team, each juror bringing unique expertise to the selection process.

As Guadagnino’s latest film, Queer, starring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, prepares for its U.S. release on November 27, his role at Marrakech underscores his international cinematic reach and ongoing dedication to fostering creative voices.
