The official trailer for the highly anticipated Nollywood crime thriller Red Circle is out, featuring scenes of crime, bloodshed, and violence.
The life of Fikayo Holloway (Folu Storms), an investigative journalist, takes a turn when her best friend, Venita (Omowunmi Dada), is murdered. In a bid to uncover the truth, Fikayo investigates and comes into contact with the dangerous criminal underworld of Lagos, placing her life and the lives of those she loves in danger.
Directed by Akay Mason (Elevator Baby, Superstar), the film contains socially relevant themes of corruption and power dynamics. As reported by Pulse, the director describes the film as more than just a crime thriller.
“Red Circle is a story about truth, power, and the risks of uncovering secrets that some would kill to keep hidden,” he said.
He also emphasised the film’s ambitious cinematic approach.
“Viewers should prepare for a visual and psychological treat because Red Circle is as visually stunning as it is emotionally charged,” he continued.
The film is produced by Nora Awolowo and Abdul Tijani-Ahmed, who was also tasked with penning it. The film features Folu Storms, Bukky Wright, Tobi Bakre, Timini Egduson, Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Branch, Mike Afolarin, Omowunmi Dada, Ruggedman, and Debo Adedayo, amongst others, as part of an ensemble cast of Nollywood stars, fusing the experience of veteran actors and the freshness of emerging industry talents.
Rixel Studios collaborates with Nile Distribution to launch the film with a major marketing campaign and distribution strategy, with the aim of presenting the film at the forefront of international cinema.
Red Circle explores themes of crime, corruption, power, and the risk of investigative journalism, directly addressing modern-day challenges in this exciting crime thriller framework. This has sparked crucial conversations and added to the hype and overall anticipation for the film’s release.
