James Gray is back in the director's chair with Paper Tiger, an intense new crime drama starring Adam Driver, Jeremy Strong, and Anne Hathaway. This star-studded cast, known for their transformative performances, is set to bring Gray’s original screenplay to life in a gripping story about two brothers chasing the American Dream, only to find themselves entangled in a high-stakes scheme that leads straight into the shadowy world of the Russian “Mafiya.”
Driver, known for his searing roles in Marriage Story and House of Gucci, will portray one of the ill-fated brothers, while Succession star Jeremy Strong, who won critical acclaim as Kendall Roy, is set to join as his ambitious sibling. Anne Hathaway, recently seen in Armageddon Time (also directed by Gray) and Les Misérables, will add yet another complex role to her impressive repertoire.
Paper Tiger promises to be an unflinching exploration of brotherhood tested by violence and corruption as the duo's world spirals out of control. Financed by Leone Film Group and produced by Raffaella Leone and Rodrigo Teixeira of RT Features, the film begins principal photography in early 2025, aiming to capture Gray’s vision of gritty Americana amidst the lure and dangers of organized crime.
As Driver, Strong, and Hathaway prepare to dive into this tense narrative, Paper Tiger is shaping up to be one of the year’s most anticipated projects, delivering raw performances and powerful storytelling under Gray’s direction.
