The trailer for Final Destination: Bloodlines has shattered a massive viewership record as it overtakes 28 Years Later to become the second most-watched horror trailer of all time after the IT trailer, and this is just three months after the trailer for 28 Years Later became the second most-watched horror trailer in history.
Now, second only to the IT trailer, which gained almost 200 million views, the trailer for Final Destination: Bloodlines garnered 178.7 million worldwide views (across channels in 65 markets) 24 hours after the Tuesday premiere.
Final Destination: Bloodlines was announced last December, and its release date comes 14 years after the previous installment, Final Destination 5, just in time for its quarter-century anniversary, 25 years after the franchise's debut.
The newest chapter in New Line Cinema’s hit franchise is said to “take audiences back to the very beginning.” In the upcoming sequel, “Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefanie heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.”
