Overview
Super Nowa Ohini is a gifted 12-year-old who prefers to stay unseen. When a new teacher and her brother encourage her into a major competition, she must confront a taunting figure born from her own anxiety and decide whether to keep hiding or finally step into her own light — a coming-of-age story about self-acceptance and confidence.
Viewers’ Guide
This movie contains no sex, nudity, or scenes of violence or gore. There is mild profanity, along with brief depictions of alcohol, drug use, or smoking, none of which are emphasised. Some scenes may feel slightly tense or emotionally intense, but they are mild and unlikely to disturb most viewers. Overall, the content is suitable for a general audience, including teenagers and adults, with minimal concerns regarding content.

Good Story, But The Script Struggles With Tone and Audience Direction
SuperNowa has a good and interesting storyline, but the execution doesn’t fully live up to its potential. While the plot itself is solid, the performances from the actors are mostly average and don’t always elevate the material.
The main issue for me is the film’s unclear target audience. Visually and tonally, the movie feels like something that should be recommended for teens or even younger viewers. However, that impression clashes with the inclusion of profanity—words like “shithole”—as well as noticeable alcohol consumption. If a movie is presented in a way that feels kid-friendly or teen-oriented, these elements feel unnecessary and out of place.
I understand that the intention may have been to portray life realistically, but there are better and more thoughtful ways to handle that, especially when the overall look and feel of the movie suggest a younger audience. Because of this, the script didn’t quite work for me, and it feels like a missed opportunity.
