The highly anticipated action-fantasy K-drama Twelve has officially confirmed its lead stars. On October 22, the production team announced that Ma Dong Seok and Park Hyung Sik would take centre stage in this star-studded superhero series. Adding to the excitement, Twelve will also feature a stellar supporting cast, including Ji Chang Wook, Sung Dong Il, Lee Joo Bin, Seo In Guk, and Kang Mi Na.
The news of Ma Dong Seok’s return to the small screen has thrilled fans, marking his first major role in a K-drama since 2016’s 38 Task Force. In recent years, the actor, known for his magnetic performances in blockbuster films, has focused on the big screen, making only special appearances in television dramas. Along with Twelve, Ma Dong Seok will lead another K-drama, Hive, based on a popular webtoon.
For Park Hyung Sik, Twelve will be the latest in a string of highly anticipated K-drama roles. In addition to this superhero project, the idol-turned-actor is set to appear in the SBS series Treasure Island and the melodrama Desperado. Earlier this year, he gained attention for his leading role in the romantic comedy Doctor Slump.
Twelve will transport viewers into a mystical world where 12 animals, turned into angels, must protect the Korean Peninsula from the resurgence of evil spirits. In ancient times, these angels sealed away the power of demons through their sacrifices, but chaos returns as the demons awaken.
Ma Dong Seok will play the role of Taesan, the head of the 12 gods and an angel representing the tiger. His character will lead the fight to protect humanity. Park Hyung Sik will take on the role of Oh Gui, a demon who reemerges after being sealed away for thousands of years. His return sets the stage for an epic showdown against Taesan and the other angels.
Helming Twelve is director Kang Dae Gyu, known for his work on acclaimed films like Pawn, Tidal Wave, and He Was Cool. With his reputation for creating captivating stories, fans can expect Twelve to be another thrilling addition to his body of work.
The production team has already started filming the series, which is expected to premiere in 2025. While the broadcast network and official air date have yet to be confirmed, excitement is building for what could be one of the biggest K-dramas of the year.
