Netflix has confirmed that Sakamoto Days Season 1 Part 2 will premiere in July 2025 and has released a new key visual featuring an updated cast. In addition, the production team has also announced that Koki Uchiyama (who played Mereum in HxH, Tsukishima in Haikyu, and Shigaraki in MHA) is joining the Sakamoto Days gang as Gaku, an assassin.
Written and illustrated by creator Yuto Suzuki, Sakamoto Days is adapted from a popular manga series and follows the days of Taro Sakamoto, a retired hitman who gave up his old ways after falling in love with a convenience store clerk.
The anime debuted on the 11th of January 2025 on Netflix, quickly gathering a considerable fan base and sending anime fans worldwide raving.
The Netflix show has been deemed a success so far despite the somewhat underwhelming final episode of Part One, which premiered on March 22nd, with Wutang challenging Sakamoto, Lu, and Shin to a high-stakes gambling competition in an underground casino. The episode ended, introducing a new villain and hinting at future challenges for Sakamoto and his team in Part Two.
Despite the somewhat underwhelming finale of Part One, the Netflix adaptation has been widely regarded as a success. Many viewers felt it did not provide a satisfying conclusion to the first part of the season. Instead of a big, action-packed climax, it opted for a more lighthearted, casino-themed episode. Nevertheless, following the introduction of a new villain, the final episode left fans with a sense of anticipation for what is to come in the next part of the season.
