At the Marvel Fanfare Panel at New York Comic Con, Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski joined forces with best-selling artist Steve McNiven (Civil War) and New York Times best-selling author Charles Soule (Star Wars) to unveil an exciting new Daredevil limited series set for release next year: DAREDEVIL: COLD DAY IN HELL.
This highly anticipated series will mark McNiven’s first major Marvel Comics project in nearly a decade. He is reunited with Charles Soule, who had a well-received run on Daredevil in 2015, and together, they bring a bold, fresh take on the beloved character in the spirit of McNiven’s work on Old Man Logan.
The series follows an older, powerless Matt Murdock in a future Marvel Universe teetering on the edge of collapse. Though no longer the costumed Daredevil, he remains the Man Without Fear, continuing his fight to protect the broken streets of Hell’s Kitchen. When a catastrophic event restores his powers, Murdock is entrusted with a vital mission from Captain America, but he must face the overwhelming evil of this dystopian world alone.
Reflecting on their collaboration, Soule praised McNiven, saying, “I know whatever idea I write is going to be executed masterfully by Steve, and that level of trust allows you to take a lot of risks. We’ve been working on this book for four years, and that time has been well spent.”
Inspired by Frank Miller’s iconic work on The Dark Knight Returns, McNiven shared, “The structure of a 16-panel grid forces you to try new storytelling techniques, and that’s what makes it exciting.”
With a star-studded creative team and an intriguing storyline, DAREDEVIL: COLD DAY IN HELL is set to become a major event in Marvel Comics next year. Fans can expect a thrilling return to Hell’s Kitchen like they’ve never seen before.
