One thing about Nigerians is the way they hype good things. You will hear statements like who no like better thing? Shanty Town is one of the better things that happened to Nollywood in 2023. Allow me to borrow Burna Boy’s slang; you go explain explain explain explain because no evidence. Shanty Town has lots of evidence. According to a report released by Netflix in December, Shanty Town was the most-watched Nollywood drama on Netflix Africa with 27.3 million hours viewed. This movie has received many awards and nominations all across Africa.
Shanty Town is a crime thriller series that follows the story of some ashawo who try to escape a dangerous criminal don, Scar. The six-episode series, spanning about 237 minutes, tells the story of Shanty Town, where illegality is legal—a city where crime thrives on people’s blood and sweat. The movie is exciting and got Nigerians talking for over two months. The Netflix series stars Chidi Mokeme, Ini Edo, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Sola Sobowale, Nancy Isime, Ali Nuhu, Shaffy Bello, Nse Ikpe-Etim, and many others. Shanty Town is a good watch for the weekend.

The series also featured an ensemble cast of Gabriel Afolayan, Ramsey Nouah, Kate Henshaw, Toke Makinwa, Daniel Etim-Effiong, Segun Arinze, and many more.
