Tunde Babalola is a distinguished Nigerian-British screenwriter, occasional actor, and creative storyteller known for his impactful contributions to both Nollywood and British television. Born and initially raised in England before relocating to Nigeria with his family, Babalola pursued his passion for the arts from a young age, participating in school plays and creative productions. He holds a degree in Dramatic Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, where he refined his craft.
Over the years, Babalola has become one of Nigeria’s most respected screenwriters, penning acclaimed films such as Last Flight to Abuja, October 1, Citation, Critical Assignment, and Tenants of the House. He also contributed to popular TV shows including Tinsel in Nigeria and British series such as The Bill and In Exile. In 2024, he wrote the historical drama House of Ga’a for Netflix, solidifying his reputation for combining narrative depth with broad audience appeal.
Though primarily focused on writing, Babalola has also acted — for instance in the film Deep Freeze (2001) — but he does not appear to pursue acting as his principal career path. His work is characterized by strong cultural themes, historical settings, social commentary, and intelligent storytelling, making him a key figure bridging Nigerian and international screenwriting.
