If the week has felt like a lot, and you’re not in the mood for anything too intense or new, we’ve got you. Sometimes, all you need is a feel-good movie that takes you away from reality for a bit—something sweet, something nostalgic, something that reminds you why you fell in love with movies in the first place. Whether you’re flying solo, curled up with a partner, or watching with family, here are five films that deliver the warm fuzzies.
Genre: Romance, Drama, Fantasy
Imagine not ageing for over 100 years. Sounds cool until you realise you’ll have to outlive everyone you love. That’s the life Adaline Bowman finds herself stuck in after a freak accident leaves her permanently 29. To protect her secret, she keeps running—from cities, from relationships, from herself—until love finally catches up.
This one’s perfect if you’re in the mood for a beautiful, time-bending love story with soft lighting, emotional beats, and Blake Lively serving timeless elegance.
Genre: Animation, Musical, Fantasy
A childhood classic with layers of adult meaning, All Dogs Go to Heaven follows Charlie, a rough-around-the-edges dog who dies, returns for revenge, and ends up befriending an orphan girl who changes his perspective on life and the afterlife.
It’s sweet, chaotic, a little dark, and super emotional. Plus, the backstory of voice actress Judith Barsi adds another level of poignancy that hits hard. If you’re a '90s kid (or just love animated films that don’t talk down to kids), this one’s worth a rewatch.
Genre: Romance, Coming-of-Age, Family
One tree. One girl. One very confused boy. Flipped is a throwback to childhood crushes, awkward moments, and that phase where love is innocent and slightly terrifying. Told from both the boy’s and the girl’s perspectives, this movie captures all the little things—first glances, family dinners, and junior high drama.
If you’ve ever had a slow-burn crush or changed your mind about someone after really seeing them, you’ll get this one deep in your feelings.
Genre: Romance, Drama
What happens when your husband dies but still finds a way to love you from the other side? In P.S. I Love You, Hilary Swank plays a young widow who discovers a series of letters left behind by her late husband (played by Gerard Butler), guiding her through grief, self-discovery, and the possibility of life after loss.
Yes, it’s a tearjerker, but it’s also a hopeful one. You’ll cry, sure—but in a “thank you for wrecking me in the best way” kind of way.
Genre: Comedy, Family, Romance
Three grown sons. One mama. One big, juicy family drama. A Naija Christmas is Kunle Afolayan’s hilarious love letter to Lagos families, especially Nigerian mothers who are not here to play when it comes to marriage. The deal? Get married before Christmas, or forget about that family house.
It’s fun, chaotic, and full of cultural goodness—plus you get the Lagos energy in all its unfiltered glory. A great pick when you want something light but not empty.
Final Note
There’s something special about comfort movies. They’re not always Oscar bait or groundbreaking, but they stay with you long after the credits roll. So if you’re spending the weekend indoors, give one (or all) of these a try.
Already seen them? Have favourites of your own? Share them in the comments; we’re always looking to add to the list. Or better yet — tell us which one of these broke you the most (no judgment, we’ve cried too).
