Ahead of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival premiere, A24 has released a new official trailer for Eddington, unveiling Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, and Emma Stone in the film’s star-studded cast. The trailer depicts Sheriff Cross (Joaquin Phoenix) doom-scrolling a seemingly endless stream of negative news from recent events in town.
Known for his psychological horror hits Hereditary and Midsommar, Ari Aster explores an interesting new direction with the modern Western thriller Eddington.
Set in May 2020, New Mexico, during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the film explores how fear, lies, and escalating conflict from the power struggle between Mayor Garcia (Pedro Pascal) and Sheriff Cross (Joaquin Phoenix) tear apart a small town.
Eddington will premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and hit theatres in the United States on July 18.
