Saheed Balogun, born on February 5, 1967, in Enugu State, Nigeria, though he hails from Oyo State, is a celebrated veteran of Nollywood, with a storied career spanning over four decades. A graduate of Kwara State Polytechnic, he began in show business in 1978, debuting on television with the program Youth Today on NTA. Venturing into film production, his first movie, City Girl, was released in 1989.
Balogun is renowned for groundbreaking contributions, including directing/producing Modupe Temi, Africa’s first two-cast movie, and Gbogbo Ere, the first three-cast film in West Africa.
Over the years, he's amassed an extensive filmography, starring in notable titles such as Third Party, Òfin mósè, Family on Fire (2011), Light in the Dark, Don't Get Mad Get Even, Shadow Parties, The Therapist, The Herbert Macaulay Affair, Finding Ireti, and Mrs Everything.
Beyond acting, Saheed is equally accomplished as a filmmaker, director, producer, and even serves as an events anchor/Master of Ceremony, showcasing his diverse talents within the entertainment industry.
He previously married Nollywood actress Fathia Balogun (Williams); they later divorced. He has since remarried and is a father of four children. Throughout his prolific career from 1978 to the present, Balogun has become one of the most respected and iconic figures in Nigerian cinema.
