Omoni Oboli is a distinguished Nigerian actress, scriptwriter, film director, and producer, renowned for her significant contributions to Nollywood. Born on April 22, 1978, in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, she hails from Mosogar in Delta State. Omoni completed her primary and secondary education in Benin City before earning a Bachelor's degree in French from the University of Benin, graduating with honours. She further honed her filmmaking skills at the New York Film Academy, specialising in digital editing.
Omoni's acting career commenced in 1996 with the film Bitter Encounter. She gained widespread recognition for her roles in The Figurine (2009) and Anchor Baby (2010). As a filmmaker, she has directed and produced acclaimed films such as Being Mrs. Elliott, The First Lady, and Wives on Strike (2016). Her 2018 comedy-drama Moms at War was a notable success, grossing NGN 40 million and showcasing her directorial prowess.
Beyond her film career, Omoni is a multilingual individual, fluent in both English and French. She is also an advocate for women's empowerment, founding the Omoni Oboli Foundation to support disadvantaged women and children.
