Keppy Ekpenyong Edet Bassey-Inyang, popularly known as Keppy Ekpenyong or Keppy Ekpeyong-Bassey, is a distinguished Nigerian actor, producer, and Nollywood veteran whose illustrious career spans decades and genres. Born on 21 March in Lagos State, and hailing from Akwa Ibom State, he is celebrated for his dynamic range, from action and comedy to drama and horror, making him one of Nigeria’s most versatile screen talents.
Keppy’s educational background features a BA in Linguistics from the University of Calabar and a Master’s in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos. His acting journey began during his NYSC service at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), where he trained under prolific director Tade Ogidan in drama, scriptwriting, producing, and voice-over work. His breakthrough role in the soap opera Ripples quickly elevated his profile, paving the way for a seamless transition into Nollywood home videos. In 1993, he even co-produced his own film, Unforgiven Sin, marking his early foray into film production.
Over the years, Keppy has built a rich filmography, starring in acclaimed works such as ...When Love Happens (2014), Nneka The Pretty Serpent (2020), Blood Sisters (2022), and the Tribeca Festival-premiering film The Weekend (2024). He also served as co-host for the 2018 Best of Nollywood Awards, further cementing his role as an industry influencer.
Widely acclaimed for his commitment and contributions to Nollywood, Keppy received a commendation award from the Actors Guild of Nigeria in 2018 and continues being revered as a pillar of Nigerian cinema.
