John Matthew Kofi Setor Dumelo (born 3 February 1984 in Accra, Ghana) is a distinguished Ghanaian actor, entrepreneur, farmer, and politician. Launching his acting journey as a child star in the early 1990s with the film Baby Thief, John Dumelo quickly rose through the ranks of Ghana’s film industry, delivering compelling performances in top movies like Amakye and Dede, A Northern Affair, and One Night in Vegas. Beyond his acting career, Dumelo expanded his entrepreneurial footprint with the launch of his fashion line, J. Melo, and diversified into agricultural ventures, including crop cultivation and snail farming—empowering local communities and championing sustainable farming practices.
In addition to his arts and business pursuits, Dumelo has made significant inroads in public service. As Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, and more recently appointed Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture, he blends his passion for agriculture and policy, advancing initiatives that strengthen Ghana’s food systems. A philanthropist at heart, Dumelo's commitment to charitable causes and youth empowerment has further cemented his influence across entertainment, business, and governance sectors.
