Jide Kosoko (b. 12 January 1954, Lagos Island, Nigeria) is a veteran Nigerian actor, director, and producer with a career spanning six decades. A royal descendant (hence the honorific Omoba), he studied Business Administration at Yaba College of Technology before launching his acting journey in 1964 as a child in the television production Makanjuola. Rising through Nigeria’s rich theatre traditions, he performed with the famed Awada Kerikeri troupe and appeared on the iconic TV show New Masquerade. In the early 1990s, Kosoko transitioned into Nollywood as a film producer and actor, writing and producing works such as Asiri n la and Ogun Ahoyaya, and starring in classics like Asewo to Re Mecca and Ti Oluwa Ni’Le Part 2. Known for his versatility across Yoruba and English-language films, he has continued delivering memorable performances in recent hits like The Bling Lagosians, the Netflix series The Mystic River, The Vendor, and Elesin Oba: The King’s Horseman. As a respected cultural ambassador, he has also served as a brand ambassador for Chivita, MeritAbode’s Emerald Estate, and Western Lotto, while earning nominations like Outstanding Male Actor for Love Castle at the Abuja International Film Festival.
