George Kalu is a Nigerian-American actor, filmmaker, and entrepreneur whose work bridges the cultural landscapes of Nigeria and the United States. He is recognised for his contributions to Nollywood, particularly in exploring themes of migration, identity, and cultural duality.
Kalu's journey into acting began during his university days at the University of Port Harcourt, where he studied Theatre and Media Arts with a specialisation in Film and Television Studies. His early career saw him featured in various Nollywood productions, including Gidi Up, 247, and The Scorned Help, where he worked alongside notable actors such as Van Vicker and Racheal Oniga.
In addition to acting, Kalu ventured into filmmaking with his self-produced movie, Green Necklace, which tells the story of children seeking revenge after their parents are wrongfully accused of stealing gold. He also starred in the film Dreamers, which aired on Africa Magic Urban.
Beyond his work in Nollywood, Kalu has also contributed to international projects. He is credited as a writer for the 2025 film Imported Wives, which explores themes of cultural integration and the complexities of international relationships.
Kalu's artistic philosophy is deeply rooted in spirituality, as he believes that acting is a highly spiritual endeavour. This perspective influences both his on-screen performances and his approach to storytelling. Through his work, he aims to create narratives that resonate with audiences and bridge cultural divides.
