Damson Idris, born 2 September 1991 in Peckham, South East London, is a British-Nigerian actor, entrepreneur, and film producer. The youngest of six children from a Nigerian Yoruba family, Damson initially aspired to be a soccer star, dreaming of being the next Ronaldo, and even played rugby during his youth. He notably shook hands with Queen Elizabeth II during the 2002 Golden Jubilee.
He studied for a BA (Hons) in Theatre, Film & Television at Brunel University London and later trained at the esteemed Identity School of Acting alongside talents like John Boyega and Letitia Wright. His screen debut came in British television, including appearances in Miranda, Doctors, Casualty, and The Missing, before moving into film roles such as Megan Leavey (2017) and City of Tiny Lights.
Damson achieved global recognition playing Franklin Saint in John Singleton’s acclaimed FX crime drama Snowfall (2017–2023). He further expanded his reach with starring roles in Netflix’s sci-fi action film Outside the Wire (2021) and as Joshua “Noah” Pearce in the high-octane sports drama F1 (2025) opposite Brad Pitt. Damson is also venturing into the luxury fashion space with his brand DIDRIS, showcased at the Met Gala and offering ready-to-wear collections. Looking forward, he’s set to portray Miles Davis in the upcoming period romance Miles & Juliette and appears in Children of Blood and Bone.
In addition to his acting prowess, Damson is an entrepreneur in entertainment and luxury design, making him a multi-dimensional creative talent in global culture.
