Akay Mason (Akhigbe Ilozobhie) is a Nigerian filmmaker, writer and director who has emerged as one of Nollywood’s inventive young storytellers. Best known for directing commercially successful and critically discussed features such as Elevator Baby, Day of Destiny (D.O.D) and Superstar, Akay blends contemporary Nigerian themes with genre storytelling to create emotionally driven, audience-first films that perform strongly at the box office and on streaming platforms. He trained initially at the University of Lagos and later sharpened his craft at film schools and industry programs, a background that informs his disciplined approach to directing, screenwriting and production. As the founder/CEO of Element24Media, Akay Mason also produces and develops original projects across film and digital formats, working with emerging Nigerian talent and established Nollywood actors to scale production value and reach.
