Adebayo Salami (born 9 May 1952/1953), popularly known by his stage name Oga Bello, is a veteran Nigerian actor, filmmaker, producer and director who has been a major figure in Yoruba cinema and Nollywood for decades. Born in Lagos and of Kwara (Ilorin/Pakata Oloje) descent, Salami trained at Lagos Drama School and started his career in stage theatre before becoming a leading screen presence in Yoruba-language films. He helped professionalise theatre practice, served in leadership roles with theatre practitioners’ associations, and later established a prolific film production and acting career that influenced a generation of actors. Salami is also known as the father of actor/filmmaker Femi Adebayo, and is widely respected for mentoring younger talent and promoting indigenous-language storytelling in Nigerian film.
