The stellar Netflix series draws to a close as the dates for commencement in production of the final season is announced, as well as two new exciting casts.
Arguably the most successful series aired on Netflix is finally coming to an end as the Professor and his crew return for season 5 of the hit series.
The news of this ground-breaking decision broke out during the Islamic festivities on Friday, 31st of July 2020.
The creator of Money Heist, Alex Pina revealed that the series would return for one last season, which he described as "moving from a chess game – a mere intellectual strategy – to a war strategy: attack and contention." In the just-concluded season 4 that premiered in April 2020, which raked in a record for being viewed by 65 million Netflix accounts in the first four weeks of release, one of the favourite characters Nairobi (Alba Flores) was killed while trying to save a member of the squad, Rio (Miguel Herrán). Nairobi's death sparked a ravaging fire of revenge in the team during their heist at the Bank of Spain, vowing to avenge the end of their friend.
The new season promises to take a whole new dimension as it is less about the intellectual schemes and plots of the Professor in carrying out massive heists. Season 5 will be more about payback, and two new characters will appear; the familiar face of Miguel Ángel Silvestre (Lito in Sense8) and Patrick Criado.
According to Alex Pina, "...The gang will now be pushed into irreversible situations, into a wild war: it is the most epic part of all the parts we've shot." This statement above is proof that the Professor and his team would make many decisions out of spontaneity, rather than the usual exquisitely planned and succinctly executed actions we have witnessed in previous seasons.
The filming of the final season will commence on the 3rd of August in Spain and Portugal, as it promises to remain as the most popular non-English series aired on Netflix.
