Top 5 steps to take while choosing a movie to watch.

The prepared list will take you through the fastest and easiest things you should do in determining if a movie is worth watching or not.

Sometimes you get bored, and the first thing you can think of is seeing a fascinating movie to help get rid of the boredom. Now, thinking of the right film to watch sometimes proves challenging. Sometimes you have a list of movies showing in a cinema around you, but you don't know what movie to choose that will be of excellent worth.

As a movie lover, you should have regretted at least one time for spending your time and money on a movie, and at the end of the day, the film is not worth it. Yeah, those moments are very disappointing and sad. Well, this article will help you avoid such a situation in the future to come. It contains some of the things I consider when choosing a movie to watch, and it has been working for me in selecting the right film.

Below are the steps you should take in determining the right movie to watch.

1. Identify your mood.

What do I mean when I say identify your mood? It is a proven fact that different movies are for different moods. Sometimes you might be sad, and all you need at that moment is a series of hilarious scenes to help neutralize your emotions. While sometimes your mood calls for a good action movie. Any feeling whatsoever you're having, you need to recognize the best film genre that fits your mood at that moment.

2. Check up the movie genre that fits your mood on a website with a good movie database.

Scan through a movie database

After you must have identified the best movie genre that fits the mood you are in at that period, the next thing to do is to look for a good movie database website.

What do I mean by a movie database website? A movie database website is any website you can get detailed information on almost every movie in existence. On a movie database, you get information on the movie genre, the release date of the film, the cast and crew, the movie trailers, the movie posters, and other information you need to know about a movie. Examples of movie database websites are UPreviews.net, imdb.com, and themoviesdb.org.

So, what do you do on the movie's database website? First, you browse the best genre for your mood. Let's say the best film for you at that moment is a comedy movie. You need to filter your search to comedy movies only. The good thing about these websites is that they have this ranking system that uses a popularity algorithm; films with a lot of audiences get to top the category for your wished genre. So, you can randomly check the movies brought up in the results. You will check if the film is released already, probably check if the movie has an audience score yet, read the movie's synopsis, and watch the trailer to see if the film suits your taste. You can do this for a list of films and then follow the next steps in streamlining your selections.

Another thing you can do on the movie's profile is to check for details like the production company, the director, the producer, and the film cast. Seeing a film produced by companies like Universal Pictures, Lionsgate, Metro Goldwyn Mayer, Marvel Studios, Anthill Studios in Nigeria, Inkblot Production, and other reputable companies, you should assure yourself that the movie is most likely worth seeing. The same applies to see top movie directors like Nia Da Costa, Quentin Tarantino, Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, Guillermo del Toro, Greta Gerwig, Mo Abudu in Nollywood, Niyi Akinmolayan, Jade Osiberu, and other top movie directors. The cast is something you don't want to miss out too; you have to see if that movie features top actors and actresses.

3. Check up the popularity of the movie.

Checking movies up for their popularity is another step into having the best film to see. How do you check for a movie's popularity? Simple, google is the right tool for that. All you need to do is type in the name of a film into the search box on the google website and wait for it to bring out search results. Popular movies will have more websites talking about them, they will have more blogs reviewing them or posting one or two things about them, and their popularity scale on sites like IMDb will be significant.

4. Read online reviews from critics and the movie audience.

Check the internet

Some movies will pass everything criteria mentioned in the stages above but will still end up being messy; the only way to avoid seeing such film is to read online movie reviews.

What is an online movie review? Some movie critics always take the duty to see movies early so they can share their opinions about that movie to the general audience. The movie review is what they write about that movie that shows what they feel about that movie. If a film is a good one, the movie review will clearly show it as an excellent movie, and if the movie is a bad one, the report will have less useful to say about the film.

All you have to do is check what critics say about this movie you selected and check as many verdicts as possible on this movie to help you determine if you want to see that movie or you want to weigh other options.

Some websites to check for movie reviews and ratings are; UPreviews.net, rottentomatoes.com, imdb.com, metacritic.com, and some other review blogs.

5. Make your move.

Make your move

So, you already have every information you should have on this movie you chose, the next thing to do now is to find a way to see the film. The movie might be released already in movie theaters; all you have to do is to book a movie ticket to see it at any movie theater close to you. If the movie is already available on digital platforms or streaming, especially on Netflix, all you need to do is search for the film on the app or website and view it, provided you have an active subscription with the platform.
